The Little Prince

The little prince symbolizes a traveller who is thrown into a new world which he is unfamiliar with and is trying to comprehend. The little prince in a sense is like new child who is brought into this world. With what he knows, he tries to make sense of all that is around him. The little prince to me is like the child in all of us, innocent, inquisitive, focused, imaginative, judgmental, accepting and loyal, the sort of qualities we all possess at a young age. But with life's trials and challenges, the child within is is slowly loss, just as the little prince struggles to make sense of all that the grown-ups are trying to tell him, the child within is gradually bombarded with the norms of a "grown-up" civilization and sooner or later just as the little price himself is lost, only to be remembered of fondly in memory. The little prince being a main character is very crucial to the story as he helps to drive it along and gives us a good view of his understanding of what the adults are trying to get him to understand. The key message behind the little price is that we must never lose sight of the child within us all, and that sometimes, the easiest solutions are sometimes the best.

Mr Twit

Mr Twit is portrayed as a horrid person of foul personality and equally revolting traits such as licking trapped food out of his mustache. His character is the classic "Bad Guy" in the book, to the reader he is un-likable, foul and cruel and as the story proceeds cements himself solidly as the role of the main antagonist . Mr Twit signifies all the evil things in the world which plague the human race, deceit, revenge, narcissism, gluttony, rage, lack of personal hygiene, apathy. Mr twit is a "living" embodiment of all that society has tried to remove from the population. Mr twit is therefore a good example of what would happen if anyone succumbs to the evils of the world. He feels no remorse in any of his actions and seems to take pride in them whenever they succeed. Mr twit is crucial to the story, being a main character, his actions allow the story to proceed. His interactions with his equally revolting wife help the reader better understand their separate yet characters and also look into how Mr twits mind works, the evil plans he formulates as the story goes along The key message behind Mr twit is that do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you. In Mr twits case in the end he was tricked into standing on his head just as he had subjected the four monkeys which he owned to. Which brings me to my second point, which is, wit and brains can trump brawn. Though lacking the firepower being wielded by Mr twit, Muglewump the monkey, his family, the Roly Poly bird and its other feathered brethren succeeded in fooling Mr twit and ultimately casing him to succumb to his very own trap which he had originally intended for the birds.

Title of Work: The Frog in a Box

1 Sentence Summary: A frog trapped in a box employs some rather unorthodox methods to try and free himself.

There once lived a little frog in a small box.

This box lacked any form of opening to the world outside. It did not have windows, doors or any obvious openings.

This meant that the poor little frog was very lonely most of the time.

But one day, he decided that he had enough of the monotony of living in the confines of the box. He decided he was going to be FREE! He begun to think of an escape plan.

Going up to the side of the wall, he proceeded to knock it with all his might.

"THUNK"

The little frogs hand swelled to enormous proportions due to the pain. It turned out the wall was thicker than he had originally intended.

Frantically blowing at his swollen hand, he proceeded to produce a whiteboard from a back pocket, and begun writing in gibberish which only he understood. He then begun to mix a concoction of vile and rather dangerous chemicals to together, with one of them resulting in a loud "POOF".

Letting lose an evil laugh, he placed the vile in a stick of dynamite with a timed fused attached. Hurling it against the "offending" wall, he leaped over to the other side of the room.

With a spectacular boom, the concoction went off, sending the little frog bouncing around the room. Reverberating off the sides of the wall, the poor amphibian landed in a heap. Much to his chagrin, there was not even a scratch. It seemed he would have to return to the drawing board.

After much deliberating, the little critter decided to employ the power of flight. Producing a pair of leaves, his attempts to gain flight only resulted in a few centimetres at best off the floor with gravity pulling him back almost immediately.

Landing with a not so triumphant crash, he realised there had to be a more energy conserving and less painful method of achieving flight.

Rummaging around his pocket, he produced a variety of wacky gadgets which he proceeded to throw into a heap. Finally producing a huge flower, he snickered to himself.

Clasping it in both hands, he spun it like a hand helicopter. Spinning around at great speed, he begun to achieve lift. But the little frog did not notice this for he was too dizzy from grabbing on to the stalk.

As the flower achieved altitude, another problem sprung up. As the flower continued to spin, it had begun to lose its petals. And that was not the biggest of the frogs' worries. He had forgotten a very important element.

The lid of the box.

However luck seemed to be on the frogs side. Much like how a drill boors through wood, the sound of the flower hitting the lid produced a similar tone.

As he surfaced from his captive prison, the little frog saw individuals who looked like him. Hopping over as quickly as he could, he bounded to where the group had gathered.

But this group of frogs looked quite sad. As the little frog soon found out. By some cruel twist of fate, It turned out his box was just one of the many inside a larger one...

"Smack" as he face palmed himself.

Title of Work: Do i really have to do this...alrighttt.....BOO

Blog Address/Link:http://rambles-of-the-mind.blogspot.com/

Deadline: Week 5, story 3

1 sentence summary: With the number of misconceptions rising when it comes to ghost, one spirit decides to appear
on a talk show to clear things up.

"And on tonight's show, we have a very special guest with us today, he is white, anorexic, no hes not a wannabe rockstar on drugs and booze, please put your hands together to welcome, a world exclusive, ghost on the show"

With a rousing applause, the camera panned to the set, however, all that greeted the audience was the host himself and an empty chair.

"Stop pulling our leg Larry, where is he?"

"Is this another PR stunt to help ratings?"

"Nope, he's right there, just give me a minute"

Producing a bottle of talcum powder, the host proceeded to dump it over the chair.

"Wahhh Wahh what's going on, why the hell am i white, can't a spirit rest in peace, even for a while?????"

"Sorry spectre, the guest couldn't see you and they were getting impatient, had to improvise."

"One i can become tangible at will and two, we ghost do have names you know and mine is Bob."

"Well than Bob, let's get to the important part, you're here to debunk some myths "

"Yes i am"

"Well let's get to it than, viewers want to know why is it that old spooky castles and seemingly derelict houses, is it a trend among spirits? And why do u guys like scaring people?"

"We do the haunting as it's our job, unfortunately, my boss literally works me to death. And no, it's not that we choose the latter, i would love a crib down in Hollywood as much as the next guy but the thing is that stuff just isn't cheap."

"You have to pay too?"

"Nothing in this worlds free I'll tell u Larry, even in death, tragically"

"Secondly, viewers want to know why is it whenever you and your fellow apparitions always appear in front of people missing limbs, or being semi-decayed, the usual b-list horror stuff"

"With the rise of all the horror movies, it would seem quite absurd if I popped up going boo in a singlet and bunny slippers wouldn't it, not terribly scary if I must say."

"Most certainly Bob, it would lack the edge and moving down the list, viewers are asking when u died, did you see a white light?"

"No but i did see a blue Prius"

"How has the afterlife been so far Bob? How different is it from the real world?"

"Larry I hate to spoil it for you but it's pretty much the same shit different life, the only good bit is our politicians don't give us taxes that make you pay through your nose"

"Hold that point, you mean you guys have taxes too?"

"Even in death you can't escape taxes Larry, even in death"

"Oh dear, well moving on, viewers asked why is it you guys always speak in a deep spooky haunting voice and you know the usual doors closing, stuff floating around moniker"

"Larry, we have a manual and there are rules to follow, i don't make them up, i just obey what's written there. We are also issued voice boxes which tune our voice to sound like a spooky old spectre so we don't become plagued with sore throats."

"Well something to think about for us living folk, before we let you off to do your business of spooking, on last question, How has if you pardon the figurative saying, life been for you so far? "

"I'm not allowed to say it's that bad, I do get to visit the family every now and then, almost giving the wife a heart attack, the kids don't seem as terrified though so, yeah, i guess it's pretty decent"

"Thanks for the time Bob, you sure livened up our understanding of spirits, "

Title of Work: Trading with a demon is always dirty work

Blog Address/Link:http://rambles-of-the-mind.blogspot.com/

Deadline: Week 4, story 2

1 sentence summary: Continuing from where the previous story left off, Axotik seeks out an informant who holds information he desires. However, demons always have an agenda, and Lasirus is no different...

It's not easy being inconspicuous when your sidekick is a two hundred and fifty foot god in the shape of a lizard, but then again, stealth is not really an important aspect when you have no intention of surprising anyone.

Axotik and Hanzaki Okami were prowling the air fields of Thomas-view airport, or rather what was left of it. When he was a kid, Axotik would come here with his dad to watch the planes take off and land and occasionally get a free ride from one of the friendlier pilots who knew them as regulars. Now however, it lay in ruin, resembling more of an aircraft graveyard. Mangled pieces of fuselage lay strewn across the runway in the same way a murderer would haphazardly dispose of the bodies of his victims.

A blood-curdling scream rang through the night, originating from an enormous bat like creature which slammed down in front of the duo. Its huge claws dug into the concrete with every step, removing shovel sized chunks. A huge club at the tipped off its tailed whipped off the side of the derelict hangers produced a ear shattering gong which shook one to their very soul. The creature proceeded to fold its wings and crouch in front of the duo. Appearances might have caused one to conclude that the state which the airport had been left in was caused by this particular beast, but that would be far from the truth.

"Lasirus, it has been a while has it not?" addressed Axotik to the beast.

"Rider of the amphibia, what brings you to my...humble dwellings"

"You see a great deal above the clouds lasirus, i want information as usual"

"And the payment would be...."

Axotik threw forth a small canister which wailed out a banshee like scream. It rolled and settled in front of lasirus claw with a "thunk".

"Chymera souls, much obliged rider, it is as always a pleasure doing business with you...."

The conversation however was cut short by a battle cry from behind a storage facility. A brooding Chymera wielding a battle axe cleaved right through the structure and came forth.

"Lasirus you traitor, you have allied with the humans"

"I never did say i was an ally to the chymera in the first place now did I"

"You will pay with your life for this betrayal" Letting lose a roar, the chymera charged forth brandishing his weapon in a rather ogre like fashion, making no attempt to evade any incoming blows.

"Remove this fool from my sight and i will give you thrice the amount you bargained for rider" growled Lasirus as she took to the air.

"You make it seem like I really have a choice." Leaping onto his lizard mount, Axotik removed a nodachi, a type of japanese katana made for rending large foes in twain. Before the orc could get within fifty feet of the duo, his torso was separated from his legs. He was dead before he hit the floor with a huge crash, axe flying off into the brush.

"You are most certainly swift in finishing the job rider" mentioned the gargantuan bat as she landed in clear sight now that danger had passed "Your form on the other hand most certainly intrigues"

Axotik had no doubt taken on a rather unique form. Though technically still human looking, he had sprouted a tail and a pair of green bioluminescence horns hovered above his head. An enigmatic tattoo had also colied itself around both his arms, proceeding up his back to his neck.

"You set this up didn't you Lasirus, had someone who wanted you removed so u got me to intervene for a price"

"No doubt an easy task for you, the way i look at it i stand more to lose in this deal rider"

"....As u see fit demon..." mumbled Axotik wearily, dealing with demons meant you always had to be ready for the unexpected even when the deal seemed clean.

"And now...to uphold my end of the bargain...I'm certain that which i am about to tell you...will no doubt...be of great...interest.....listen carefully rider, i am not in the habit of repeating myself unless necessary"

"Proceed, i am all ears"

Title of Work: There were two and than there was none

Blog Address/Link:http://rambles-of-the-mind.blogspot.com/

Deadline: Week 3, story 1

1 sentence summary: The story of a boy who is a vessel to a deity and is seeking to uncover the secret as to why is this happening which will shake the foundations of humanity and the beliefs held by the masses.

The air was cold and damp as he stepped out into the night. The cold breeze felt like a sharp knife pressed against his face.

"Thank god they invented hoods and long sleeve shirts" the boy thought to himself as he unrolled his sleeves and threw his hood over his head.

Walking along the streets at this time of the night was not as safe as it used to be. The pristine world that you and I know of now had changed little in his time, but under the surface great changes were taking place. Tonight, the boy would face this threat.

The silence of the night was pierced by the scream of sheer terror coming from a back alley. This would prove futile, as apart from the occasional cat, the streets were bare, as if mankind had vanished. Taking a corner, the sight which greeted him was far from ordinary to people like you and me.

Two hoodlums were hunched over a young lady but when they turned around, the face was nothing like a human. The face was warped and twisted in such a horrid way that the facial features were no longer able to be made out individually. The jaw, extended to slightly comical proportions was lined with rows of teeth meaning business. The arms were lumps of flesh with bone protruding to form crude fingers.

This, in all its glory, was a Chymera Multitude, a literal walking nightmare.

"I would advise you to stop whatever it was you where thinking of doing and disappear forever, if that is not to difficult a request for the two of you"

"And just who do you think you are punk and how exactly do u intend to stop us" came a mocking reply from the larger of the two behemoths.

"I go by many names, but the one which most address me by is Axotik, vessel to the great Hanzaki Okami-sama, and I am. your. worst. nightmare."

As if on cue, the shadows around the boy begun to take shape, forming above him into the shape of a huge lizard-esque creature. It materialized and stood between the gap which formed above the alley, staring down at them, with six luminescent orange eyes, eight legs, and a tail with a Venus fly-trap like extension at its end, was the deity Hanzaki Okami sama, and he was not the least bit happy.

Another set of screams pierced the calm of the night, followed by a roar which terrified all within the range of the alley. But the screams came from the pair of assaulters and the last thing they saw was forty sets of revolving teeth closing in upon them and then darkness.

"Miss, the streets are very dangerous, take this with you and try not to stay out too late" handing the lady an amulet, watching her pace into the night in a hurry, axotik jumped onto the back of his guardian.

"The nights still young, its hunting time."
